Welcome to Brau Brothers Brewing Co.
We are very excited to introduce Brau Brothers Brewing Company, LLC. We are a locally owned and operated brewery, producing strictly for a local and regional market. We like to stay close to the beer we produce as well as to the people who drink it. Our modest scale allows us to be more flexible, dynamic, and closer to retailers as well as beer drinkers.

Announcing, the Brau Brothers South Dakota Homebrewers Challenge!
Brau Brothers Brewing and Global Distribution have teamed up with South Dakota retailers to kick off a homebrewing competition which will span the summer months. Bring your finest homebrew to any of these establishments on the date listed below to be judged by the Brau Brothers. Winners at each event will compete for a “Best of Show” at Sully’s on August 26.
Even if you’re not a homebrewer, stop in and sample Brau Beer and meet the Brau’s. Being new to South Dakota, we look forward to this opportunity to meet the beer drinking community and share some pints. The schedule is below; if you have any questions just send a quick email.

JJ Billiards-Sioux Falls, SD-June 22nd
Sully's-Brookings, SD-July 8th
7 Beer and Wine Bar-Yankton, SD-July 21st

Oh, I forgot to mention…The beer that wins “Best of Show” will be brewed at the Brewery in Lucan and put on tap at every bar listed above!!! This is a great opportunity to get your beer on tap at your local establishment. We’re looking forward to trying some great beers. Anyone can enter, regardless of where you’re from. All we ask is four bottles or one growler of your best brew.
We’re saving a fermenter for your beer!!!

It’s Official, BrauFest 2009 will take place June 5th and 6th right here in Lucan!
We will offer on-site camping right at the brewery for the weekend! In order to keep the weekend safe and fun, we’ll have spots to park your tent or camper. Please RSVP so that we can plan accordingly. We look forward to having you as our guests. We encourage homebrewers to bring their best to share on Friday night around the campfires. Of course we’ll offer kegs and casks of Brau Beer, including the local favorite, Old 56. Brewery tours and hopyard tours will be available. The hops are up, the brewery pond is being dug, and barley looks great; we can’t wait to show them off!
On Saturday night, a terrific local band, Hicktown Mafia will play a free street dance about a block from the brewery. The BrauHaus (the birthplace of Brau Beer) will be serving pints and awesome food.
We also can’t wait to show off Lucan’s newest addition. The Lucan Locker has reopened in sweet new digs, only a stumble from the brewery. Karen will be open Saturday with specials and samples. I can personally attest to the quality; you can only get this kind of meat in a small town locker.
If you have a mixed couples slow pitch team, entry into the weekend’s tourney is a mighty $30. Brau Brothers will sponsor any team that participates from over 50 miles away based on this blast. Our local Lions Organization keeps a beer wagon (stocked with Brau Beer) next to the ball field.
This is a great event celebrating the traditions and history of small town brewing. We look forward to seeing you here in Lucan, and we especially encourage those outside the greater Lucan metropolitan area to join us for the weekend. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to email me or call the brewery. As always, there will be plenty of free parking in Lucan.
See You In Lucan!!!!
Take care,
Dustin

Beer Wars tonight in Sioux Falls!! I’ll be taking off in a few minutes and heading to Sioux Falls to catch the movie tonight and drink some beer after. I’ll be at Monk’s after the movie with a cask of Dry Hopped Sheephead! Not sure, but I believe a ticket stub gets you a free beer. Hops are poking through in the hopyard, and we began restringing yesterday. Should be done in a couple days, wind allowing. I believe Dave is going to plant barley here in the next few days. We usually piggy back on his wheat planting. Sheephead has been moving out of here faster than we can produce it. Hold on, Iowa; your Sheephead and Scotch Ale is on the way!!!
Take care,
Dustin

Sheephead Ale is coming soon! February 28 is the release date for our newest beer. We will be celebrating with a release party Feb 28 at the Happy Gnome in St. Paul. We’ll bring a couple casks of sheephead (extra dry-hopping of course!) to sample and answer any questions or just talk beer. Also, for all sheephead (Schaf-Kopf for anyone over 60) players, we’ll host a tournament with prizes for top scores. Check in at 2pm, tourney runs 2:30 – 5:30pm. If you would like to learn how to play, visit Yahoo’s Sheepshead game room. It’s a great way to learn. For those who do not play, we’ll celebrate another old German tradition - drinking beer. Sign up for swag giveaways throughout the day. To sign up, just email Mary, mary@braubeer.com, here and let her know. We will play Lucan rules (spitz, nola, call ace). If you have any questions, shoot us an email. We’re looking forward to meeting everyone and catching up with old friends!
Take care,
Dustin

All recovered from Hop Fest! What a great time. Cannery Row provided terrific music, I hope we didn’t scare them away for next year. Turnout was great, and everyone was relatively well-behaved. The homemade tent made it at least half way through the festival before it became a giant parachute. Thanks to everyone that came out and a big thanks to everyone that helped make our first beer event at Brau Bros a success!
Ring Neck Braun Ale is out and should be on store shelves. Same recipe as last year. We are making a slow changeover to pry off crowns, and Ring Neck is the first beer to sport them. These crowns allow us to include oxygen barrier seals and a tighter fit for better quality. All pry off crowns have a snazzy Brau Bros logo on them. If you need help locating a retailer that carries Ring Neck, just shoot an email. It’s always a big help to ask for the beer at your local retailer – just makes it easier to get placement.
Mary and I will be heading up to Detroit Lakes this weekend for some fun, food, and beer. The Lodge on Lake Detroit will be hosting a beer/food pairing and tasting Friday night. I’ve done this event before, it’s a blast! I’ll talk a bit about the beer and we’ll eat some great food prepared by their kitchen. It’s a lot of fun to answer questions and get everyone’s input. I can’t go up there without visiting Zorbaz and I hope to make it to some off-premise also.
I think that’s it for now, as always don’t hesitate to email me with and any questions, concerns, or advice!
Take care,
Dustin
